I use a DS4 and a DS3 as replacements for the GameCube controllers in dolphin.Cemu - Wii U Emulator. I confirm, this works like a charm. When the controller is plugged in to the Mac open up the control options in Dolphin and look for dualshock 4 or something like that, and just configure the controls to your liking.
